Oklahoma Fried Onion Burgers: A Flavorful Twist on a Classic
A few weekends ago, we gathered as a family to watch Cook’s Country, a show that has become a favorite even for my 5-year-old. The featured recipe was Oklahoma Fried Onion Burgers, and they looked irresistibly delicious. After watching the episode multiple times, I finally decided to make them. Initially, we bought ground beef, but a big lunch delayed our plans. The beef went into the freezer, forgotten until recently. When I finally made the burgers, they were so good I had to share the recipe immediately.
Ingredients:
- 1 large onion, peeled, halved, and thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 4-8 slices American cheese
- Mayo, mustard, and pickles for serving
- 4 hamburger buns, toasted
