Lemon Cream Cheese Bread

  1. For the cream cheese swirl: In a small bowl, mix together softened cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth.
  2. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Spoon about half of the cream cheese mixture on top of the batter. Use a knife to swirl the cream cheese mixture into the batter.
  3. Top with the remaining batter, then spoon the remaining cream cheese mixture on top. Swirl again with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  4. Bake the bread for 65-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil during the last 20-30 minutes of baking.
  5. Cool the bread in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing. This allows the cream cheese swirl to set.
