7-year-old swims for an hour to get help for dad and sister stranded in river

Money often becomes a source of tension in relationships, especially when one partner feels entitled to handle it a certain way. That’s exactly what happened between Becky and her husband. Becky believed the money her father had gifted her should be used solely for herself—on things she wanted, not on shared household expenses or family needs. Her husband disagreed. He reminded her that he had supported her emotionally and financially for years, always putting the family first. The disagreement escalated until her husband made a move Becky never saw coming—something so hurtful it led her to seek outside advice, unsure of how to move forward.
Meanwhile, in a story of remarkable courage, a seven-year-old boy is being praised as a hero after risking his life to save his family from a terrifying situation on the water. Chase Poust was out enjoying Memorial Day weekend with his father, Steven, and his four-year-old sister, Abigail, near Mandarin Point in Jacksonville, Florida. Steven had anchored their boat and was fishing while the children played nearby. Suddenly, the strong current pulled Abigail away from the boat. Chase didn’t hesitate—he let go of the boat to grab her.
But soon, they were both struggling in the fast-moving water. “The current was so strong that my sister let go,” Chase explained to WJXT. “So, I let go of the boat and grabbed her, and then I was stuck.” With no life jacket on, Chase made the impossible decision to swim for help. He alternated between doggy paddling and floating on his back to preserve energy. For an entire hour, this brave little boy fought the current until he reached shore and ran for help.
Back on the water, Steven screamed for assistance, frantically waving his arms. “I yelled as loud as I could, hoping someone would hear us,” he later said. It took another hour, but eventually, rescuers located Steven and Abigail, who had drifted nearly a mile from their boat.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue spokesperson Eric Prosswimmer praised the outcome, saying, “We couldn’t ask for a better result.” Thanks to Chase’s courage and quick thinking, his family was saved. At just seven years old, he showed a level of bravery and determination that few adults could match.
