MIDWEEK BAKED DOUGHNUTS
- Preparation:
- Oven: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Prepare doughnut pans by spraying with non-stick spray.
- Doughnut Maker: Preheat the doughnut maker for 5 minutes prior to baking doughnuts.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together cake flour, white sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Combine Wet Ingredients:
- Add milk, melted butter, vanilla essence, and egg to the dry ingredients. Whisk until the batter is thick and smooth.
- Baking:
- For Oven: Spoon batter into doughnut pans, filling each cavity about 2/3 full. Bake for 15 minutes or until doughnuts are golden brown.
- For Doughnut Maker: Spoon batter into the preheated doughnut maker and bake for 3 minutes, or until doughnuts are cooked through and golden brown.
- Cooling:
- Allow baked doughnuts to cool in the pans or on a wire rack before decorating.
- Cinnamon-Sugar Coating:
- Mix 1/2 cup of white sugar with 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon in a bowl.
- Melt 50g of butter in a separate bowl.
- Dip each cooled doughnut first into the melted butter, ensuring it’s coated all over.
- Immediately dip the buttered doughnut into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, rolling it gently to coat evenly.
- Place coated doughnuts on a wire rack to allow the cinnamon-sugar coating to set and dry.
