Old Fashioned Goulash

Old Fashioned Goulash: A Hearty Classic

This Old Fashioned Goulash is a recipe that brings back memories from my childhood. It’s a simple, comforting dish made entirely on the stovetop before a final bake to meld the flavors and get everything bubbly and hot. In Minnesota, we called it goulash, but depending on where you’re from in the United States, it might be known as American Chop Suey or Slumgullion.

Goulash is not only delicious but also budget-friendly. A pound of ground beef, combined with pasta and a tomato-based sauce, stretches into multiple servings, making it a convenient and affordable meal option. Most of the ingredients are pantry staples, so it’s an easy go-to dish for those nights when you need a quick dinner solution. Plus, it’s simple enough for even a teenager to prepare!
