DOJ Official Suggests Criminal Charges Against Jill Biden For Elder Abuse

According to a senior official from the Department of Justice, First Lady Jill Biden could potentially face criminal charges if it’s proven she played a role in concealing President Joe Biden’s declining health. The allegation was raised by Leo Terrell, senior counsel to the assistant attorney general in the Civil Rights Division, who publicly questioned whether Jill Biden’s actions could constitute elder abuse.
Terrell posted on X (formerly Twitter) a provocative image of the First Lady seated behind a desk on Air Force One, accompanied by the caption: “Criminal charges?? Abuse of the elderly!” His post comes amid increasing speculation that members of President Biden’s inner circle may have deliberately hidden his deteriorating mental state and serious medical condition from the public while he was in office.
The controversy intensified after Biden’s office confirmed on Sunday that the 82-year-old former president had been diagnosed with an advanced, aggressive form of incurable prostate cancer, which had metastasized to his bones. According to his spokesperson, Biden sought medical attention after experiencing symptoms related to his urinary system. Critics are now questioning why such a serious diagnosis wasn’t identified earlier, especially considering his regular medical evaluations as president.
Terrell’s claims were further amplified by others on social media. One reposted comment stated, “Elder abuse is a form of domestic violence and Dr. Biden has a lot of explaining to do about her part in defrauding the American people and taxpayers.” Another added, “Despite my personal political beliefs, I would never wish Joe Biden harm—but it’s sad that his own family may have compromised his well-being.”
Notably, President Biden received a clean bill of health last year. In February, his physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, reported no new concerns about the president’s physical or cognitive health. That assessment is now being scrutinized in light of the recent diagnosis.
Additional fuel was added to the fire with the release of Original Sin, a new book by Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson. The book alleges that those closest to Biden—particularly his wife—took great care to shield the public from signs of his mental decline during his presidency. It describes scenes in which Jill Biden stepped in to finish his thoughts during meetings and shielded him from difficult interactions. One reported incident involved the president forgetting the name of actor George Clooney during a conversation.
Although Original Sin does not mention the cancer diagnosis, it raises broader questions about transparency, health, and the role of family in shaping a president’s public image.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump responded to the diagnosis by expressing surprise that the news had not surfaced sooner. Speaking on Monday, he questioned whether the public had been intentionally misled. “If you take a look, it’s the same doctor who said Joe was cognitively fine,” Trump said, implying that Biden’s annual screenings should have detected health issues. “Something is happening that the public was not aware of.”
Despite his history of criticizing Biden’s mental fitness throughout the 2024 campaign, Trump offered a rare moment of sympathy in a statement, saying he was “saddened” to hear of Biden’s diagnosis.
The unfolding situation has raised difficult ethical and legal questions about elder care, medical transparency, and political responsibility—particularly when the leader in question holds the highest office in the nation. Whether these concerns will lead to further investigations or fade as political rhetoric remains to be seen.
