Trump, We are Gonna Take Panama Canal Back Or Something Very Powerful Will Happen

President Donald Trump has declared that the United States will retake control of the Panama Canal, warning that if action isn’t taken, “something very powerful is going to happen.”
Stepping off Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews, Trump doubled down on his claim that China has gained control over the vital waterway and is using it to undermine U.S. interests. He made it clear that his administration is prepared to reclaim the canal or renegotiate the existing agreement to restore American influence.
“We’re seeing very happy people right now—people who never thought this would happen. They’re safe, they’re with their families. It’s a big one,” Trump told reporters. “We’re talking about the Panama Canal. Secretary of State Rubio is in Panama as we speak. They’ve done something terrible—broke the agreement. They weren’t supposed to do that. The canal was handed over to Panama, not China, and yet China is the one in control. That’s not how it works. They broke the contract, and either we’re going to revoke it or something very serious is going to happen.”
His comments come on the heels of Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s visit to Panama, where he issued a stark warning to Panamanian leaders: if they fail to curb China’s expanding influence over the canal, the U.S. will retaliate. Trump echoed this message, telling reporters that unless the U.S. regains control, “something very powerful is going to happen.”
Throughout his presidency, Trump has hinted at the possibility of leveraging economic and military pressure to force Panama to relinquish control of the canal. Now, with tensions escalating, it appears that those measures may soon be put to the test.
