This 9,11 Budweiser Commercial Only Aired Once, But Will Always Be An Iconic Tribute To Our Nation

The Budweiser Clydesdales are more than just a symbol of a beer brand—they are an enduring representation of American culture and tradition. Regardless of whether you’re a fan of Budweiser, their iconic advertisements resonate deeply, often evoking a sense of pride and unity. These ads, known for their elegance and cinematic quality, remind us of what it means to be American.

One particular commercial, created to capture the hope and resilience of the American people, is especially moving. Originally aired during Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002, just months after the September 11 attacks, the ad left an indelible mark on viewers. It wasn’t widely shown—airing only once—but in 2008, it resurfaced on YouTube, allowing millions to experience its emotional impact all over again.

The advertisement begins with the majestic Budweiser Clydesdales traveling through iconic American landmarks. They pass the Statue of Liberty, cross the Brooklyn Bridge, and eventually arrive at a park overlooking the New York City skyline—now missing the twin World Trade Center towers. There, the Clydesdales stop, bow their heads, and pay a solemn tribute to the lives lost in the tragic events of September 11, 2001. The powerful imagery, set against the backdrop of a nation still healing, gives you chills with every viewing.

This ad wasn’t just a commercial—it was a heartfelt message of unity, resilience, and remembrance. It captured the spirit of a grieving but unbroken nation. Whether you’ve seen it before or not, it’s worth revisiting. It’s a powerful reminder of what it means to stand together as Americans.

On the tenth anniversary of 9/11, Budweiser revisited this tribute with a remastered version of the original ad. Titled “We’ll Never Forget,” the updated version carried the same poignant message, subtly altered to reflect the passage of time and continued remembrance.

Paul Chibe, vice president of marketing at Anheuser-Busch, explained the significance of this tribute: “We think our 9/11 Clydesdales tribute ad is very special. In an effort to raise awareness for the National September 11 Memorial & Museum’s fundraising campaign, we were proud to re-air the commercial on Sunday, the tenth anniversary. The subtle adjustments to the ad were designed to show the passage of time and, most importantly, to remind us to never forget the people who were lost and those who were impacted by 9/11.”

The Budweiser Clydesdales ad remains one of the most powerful tributes in advertising history—a solemn, respectful, and deeply moving reminder of the unity and hope that define America. It’s not just a commercial; it’s a testament to resilience, a call to remember, and a celebration of the strength that binds us as a nation.
