Tragedy in Manitoba, 15 Dead in Devastating Bus and Truck Collision Near Carberry

A tragic accident in Manitoba, Canada, claimed the lives of at least 15 people on Thursday when a bus carrying elderly passengers collided with a truck at an intersection near Carberry, approximately 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.

The passengers aboard the bus were en route to a casino in Carberry when the collision occurred. Rob Hill, Deputy Police Officer and commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Manitoba, confirmed the devastating toll. “At least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision,” Hill said.

In addition to the fatalities, ten other individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical care in local hospitals. Both the bus driver and the truck driver survived the crash, but authorities have not yet determined or disclosed responsibility for the accident.

Images from the crash site painted a grim picture: shattered wheelchairs, walking frames, and personal belongings scattered near tarpaulins covering the victims’ bodies. First responders and investigators worked tirelessly to secure the scene and begin piecing together the circumstances leading to the collision.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau offered his condolences in a public statement, expressing his sorrow for the victims and their families. “My thoughts are with those who lost loved ones and those who are injured. We are here for you in this incredibly difficult time,” Trudeau said.

Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson also shared her sympathies, stating, “Our hearts break for everyone affected by this tragedy. Manitoba stands united in mourning and support for those impacted by this unimaginable loss.”

The accident has left the close-knit community of Carberry and the broader Manitoba region in shock and mourning. Residents and organizations have rallied together, offering assistance and prayers for the victims and their families.
